Beth and Bobby Nelson have been raising beautiful Tennessee Walking Horses in Runge, Texas since 1996. Beth remembers riding her first walker while in Mississippi in 1961. She recalls that the feeling was exhilarating, "like floating across the ground."

After several years of raising quarter horses, the Nelsons spent the years from 1975 -1996 just taking their kids to play days and trail riding. Bobby received his first gaited horse, "Gypsy" for his birthday. Since then, every non-gaited horse on the Nelson's 290 acre ranch has been replaced with a gaited horse.

Not only are the Nelson's walkers fun and comfortable to ride, but their gentle dispositions make them excellent family horses as well. Many of the horses have placed well in local shows. They are also versatile enough to work cattle with and, of course, are perfect trail mounts.

The first stallions, black and white tobiano, Sun Moon & Stars, and palomino, Count Glory, were purchased in 1996 which started the growing breeding program that flourishes today. Outside mares are well cared for while being bred. There is a new large 20 stall horse barn as well as several turn-out pastures. Bobby grows his own hay and Beth tends to the daily chores and checks each horse over thoroughly. All horses are on a worming program, are coggins tested and all foals are imprinted at birth.

Come by for a visit or maybe a test ride to experience the comfort of riding the "running walk".
